AJMER
Places of Interest :
- Dargah Khwaja Sahib : This is the tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. This mausoleum has to mosques an assembly hall and one imposing Gateway. The celebration of Urs at the Dargah is held every year from 1st to 6th day of Ramzan Month.
- Ana Sagar Lake : Artificial lake built by Chauhan King Arnoraj during 1135-1150 A. D. Below embankment Shah Jahan built a garden, marble parapet with five pavilions.
- Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhonpura : Originally a Jain places and converted into a mosque by Muhammad Ghori in 1192 A. D. With in fort of the Taragarh Hill. It is the perfect specimen of architecture. There is a belief that Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhompra (two and half day's hut) is so known because Muhmmad Ghori ordered that the hut should be ready in two and a half days time.
- Nasiyan temple : (Red Temple) This Jain Temple built in the last century with a double storey hall containing gilt wooden figures from Jain Mythology. The series of large models depict the Jain concept of the ancient world.
- Akbar's Palace : Near the Railway Station, Akbar's palace was built by Akbar 1570, today houses Ajmer museum, it contains fine sculpture, Moghul & Rajput armors. Museum is close on Friday.
- Pushkar : (11-km) Pushkar Lake is one of the holiest of the Hindu places of pilgrimage. At the full moon of Kartik Poornima each year, up to 2,00,000 people flock to Pushkar, bringing with them 50,000 cattle for several days of pilgrimage, during cattle fair. Horse dealing, Camel racing and colour festivals, Rajasthani dances are the attraction of this cattle fair.
There are many temples here, the most famous is that of Brahma, which is say to be the only temple to Brahma in India.

ALWAR
Alwar nestled among the rocky hill of Arvalli has surrounded by lush green forest and lakes, dotted with architectural splendors.
Places of Interest :
- Fort has 15 large and 51 small towers, which contain 446 loopholes for musketry and eight towers. There are the remains of Jai Mahal, Nikumbh Mahal, Salim Sagar pond, Suraj Kund and many other temples inside the fort.
- City Palace & Museum : Popularly known as the Vinay Vilas Mahal, the ground floor of city palace has been converted in to government offices and district courts. The upper apartment of the palace has a museum. The museum has richest collection of Mughal and Rajput paintings of 18th and 19th centuries and manuscripts in Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Sanskrit and also the collection of Indian armory-diverse and amazing.

Just behind the city palace there are few temples on the bank of Sagar, the artificial tank built by Maharaja Vinay Singh. There is a cenotaph of Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh locally known as the Moosi Maharani Ki Chhatri. It is unique in its style of the unusual sloping Bengali roof and arches built in 1815 by Maharaja Vinay Singh.
- Siliserh Lake : (13 km). This lake offers bewitching scenery, covering four sq. miles, is surrounded by thickly wooded hills, with beautiful chhatris on the embankment. Cradles in the hills and overlooking the lake is a royal palace-Tourist Bungalow built in 1845.
- Vijay Mandir Palace : (10 km) this royal residence, built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1918 A. D., overlooks a scenic and rippling beauty of a lake. Prior permission is requiring from the secretary to visit the palace. There is a Sitaram Mandir here.
- Jai Samand Lake : (6 km). It is a large artificial Lake constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1910 A. D.

AMAR SAGAR
6 km from Jaisalmer, a beautifully carved Jain temple, is being painstakingly restored.
AMBER
Situated at a distance of 11 km from Jaipur on Jaipur-Delhi road, Amber was the ancient capital of Jaipur State. The fortress palace is situated on a hillside, overlooking a lake. It was constructed by raja Man Singh in 1592. Raja Man Singh was the Rajput Commander of Akbar's army. Within the fortress palace are the Rajput or Hall of Victory and opposite to it, is the Sukh Niwas or Hall of Pleasure. The fort is a superb example of Rajput architecture. It can be climb up to the fort on elephant back.

BARMER
Barmer is 153 km from Jaisalmer. This deserted town is a center for woodcarving, embroidery, block printing and other handicrafts.
BHARATPUR
Bharatpur has founded by Suraj Mal in 1733 AD Today Bharatpur is well known for its famous water-bird sanctuary, Kololadeo Ghana National Park.
Places of Interest:
- Fort : Once considered invincible, this fort was built Suraj Mal surrounded its massive double ramparts surrounded by tremendous moats. Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Kothi Khas are located within the fort.
- Museum : Located within a fort, Museum has a rich collection of exquisite sculptures and some ancient inscriptions. Open from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs. Friday closed.
- Kololadeo Ghana National Park : 2 km from Bharatpur, this water birds sanctuary covers 52 sq. km. In area of the extensive low lying marsh. Over 300 kinds of birds out of which more than 100 kinds are migrants, some of them from Siberia and China. Thorny babul trees, their tops clear of the water, hold the nest of the thousands of birds, which gather here. These birds include the painted stork, egret pelican, ibis, cormorant, darter, gray and white heron, cranes, purple moorhen. There are exotic migrants from Afghanistan, Central Asia, Tibet as well as Greyleg Geese from Siberia, Siberian Granes from the Arctic, and bareheaded Geese \from China.
Islands and well-forested hillocks break this bird sanctuary and jeepable embankments criss-cross the marshland, making for easy viewing. The best way to see the birds, however, is by boats punted through the rushes. Apart from birds, other species include pythons, porcupines, nilgai, spotted deer, hyenas, sambar and wild boar. The best season to visit this sanctuary is from October to February.

BIKANER
Bikaner has founded by Rao Bikaji in 1488, the town derives its name from its founder. Maharaja Ganga Singh, (1880-1943 A. D.) built the Gang Canal here, to irrigate the fertile but parched land of the desert. This region is well known for the best riding camels in the world. And the monuments here chiseled out of red and yellow sandstone display some of the finest creations of Rajput Civilization.
Places of Interest :
- Junagadh Fort : Raja Raj Singh (1571-1611 A. D.) built this imposing fort. It is encircled by a most and within, has palaces made of red sandstone and marble, with kiosks and balconies. Suraj pol, or the Sun Gate is the main entrance to the fort. Har mandir, the megistic chapped, where the royal weddings and births were celebrated a pole.
The palaces worth visiting are Anup Mahal, Karan Mahal, Bijai Mahal, Durgar Niwas, Ganga Niwas and Rang Mahal or Palace of Pleasure. And some of the most beautiful palaces are Chandra Mahal or the Moon Palace and Phool Mahal or the Flower Palace. These are exquisitely ornate with mirror work, carvings and painting.
- Lalgarh Palace : Lalgarh, the Red fort, was built by Maharaja Ganga Singh, to commemorate his father-Maharaja Lal Singh spellbinding place of dexterous carving in red sandstone, marked brilliantly by the intricate filigree work.
There is a marvelous collection of old photographs and trophies of wildlife well preserved and exhibited in the Banquet hall. Part of palace today has been renovated to serve as a hotel and the rest is open for display. Open from : 10 to 17 hrs. Entry fee : Rs. 1-00 per head.
- Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum : A museum that has an amazing collection. There are brilliant examples of pre-Harappan, the Gupta and Kushan era and sculptures of the late classical time. It houses a rich collection of terracotta, pottery, paintings, armory and coins. There is a separate section of arts and crafts of this particular region.
- Garden and Parks : Ganga Niwas Public Park, Ratan Bihari Temple Prak, Bhawan Palace Park, and Nathji Park. There is also a zoo in the Ganga Niwas Public Park.
Excursion :
- Bhanda Sar Jain Temple : This beautiful 16th century Jain temple is 5 km away from Bikaner. The temple is dedicated to the 23rd tirthankar Parswanathji.
- Camel Breeding Farm : This farm is 10 km from Bikaner. It is one of a kind in the whole or Asia and is preserved by the Government Bikaner's camel crops (former Ganga Risala) was a famous fighting force and still maintains its importance in desert warfare.
- Devi Kund : 8 km from Bikaner, this is the royal crematorium with a number of cenotaphs. Many decorated Chhatris have been built in memory of the rulers of the Bika dynasty. Maharaja Surat Singh's Chhatri is built entirely of white marble with spectacular Rajput paintings on its ceiling.
- Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary : This wildlife sanctuary is located 32 km from Bikaner on Jaisalmer road. The lush foliage of the woods here has a number of Nilgai of the Blue Bulls, Chinkara, Black Buck, particularly flocks of imperial Sand Grouse, living here.
The Gajner Palace, a summer resort of kinds, standing on the banks of a lake has now been converted into a hotel, Permission to visit the place can be obtained from the Manager, Lalgarh Palace, Bikaner.
- Deshnok's Karnimata Temple : This temple is situated 33 km from Bikaner, on Jodhpur road. It is dedicated to Karnimata, an incarnation of Durga.
The temple offers a haven to rats as they are believed to be incarnate incarnated as future bards. Thus, the rats, considered to be sacred, roam freely in the temple area.
Maharaja Ganga Singh donated massive, silver gates, intricately carved and elegantly designed, to this temple.

BUNDI
Bundi is nestled in a picturesque narrow valley, famous for its intricate paintings and murals. Cordoned in by massive ramparts the entrance to the lies through stately gates, reminiscent of ceaseless medieval pageants and majestic processions of victorious rulers. There is a lake in the center of the town-ship. Bundi is said to have got its name from Bunda, a Meena Chieftain.
Places of Interest :
- Tarangarh Fort : Built in 1372 A. D., this star fort crowns a thickly wooded hill. Palace inside the Fort has picture gallery, walls of this gallery is covered with murals of hunting historical and religious scenes painted in the Bundi Style. Fort commands extensive views of the city.
- Chhatar Mahal : Also known as palace of towers, it bears massive guarded gates as well as an antique water clock which was rung every half hour.
- Phool Mahal : This 20th century palace is the present home of the ex-ruler of Bundi. It houses a collection of murals done by Italian prisoners of war and several hunting relics of bygone aristocracy.
- Naval Sagar Lake : In the center of this Lake, there is a temple of Varuna, the Hindu God of Water.
- Raniji KI Baori-Vav : This steep well is 45 meters deep, is built by one of Gujarati queen of Bundi rulers, has surmounting arches supported by carved pillars.

CHITTAURGARH
Historic fort of Chittargarh was founded by the chief of the Mori Rajputs, in the 7th century and remains the capital of the Sisodia Rajputs till 1567 A. D. When Rana Udai Singh founded the city of Udaipur. This place is known for its courage, pride and chivalry. In 1303 Ala - ud - din Khilji, the Pathan King of Delhi besieged the fort in order to capture the beautiful Padmini, the wife of Bhim Singh, uncle of the Rana. When defeat was inevitable, the Rajput noblewomen, including Padmini committed Jauhor and Bhim Singh led the orange - clad noblemen out to their certain death known as kesariya. Women marches into the flames of a huge funeral pyre in the form of ritual suicide known as jauhar. In 1535 A. D., about 32,000 Rajputs rode out to their certain death and 13,000 women performed Jauhar. Once again in 1567 Moghal Emperor Akbar attack Chittaurgarh and 8000 Rajputs rode to certain death and many women performed Jauhar so that enemy army can't rape them.

- Fort : The fort of Chittor stands on a rocky hill which is 500 feet above the surrounding plains, and it covers about 700 acres. Spiral road leads to the fort. Road passes through several gates, which formed part of defense system. Within the fort, there are many architectural places.
- Tower of victory : Jaya Stambha : This tower was erected by Rana Kumbha to commemorate his Victory over Mohmud Khilji of Malwa in 1440. The tower rises 37 meters in nine storeys.
- Kirti Stambh : Tower of Fame : This 22 meters high tower was built by a Jain merchant. It is dedicated to first Jain Tirthankar Adinath. This seven storeies tower is decorated with standing figures of various Tirthankars.
- Rana Kumbha Palace : This palace is of great historical and architectural interest. It is said that the famous Jauhar by Padmini and other ladies of court, was performed here in one of the underground cellars with vaulted roofs, over which the palace is built. Elephant and horse stables and also 3 Shiva temple be found within the palace.
- Padmini Palace : This palace overlooks a pleasant pool. It was scene of the incident, which led to a bitter battle between Allaudin Khilji and Rawal Ratan Singh, ending with the alshes of Padmini.
- Meera and Kumbha Shyam Temple : Built in Indo-Aryan style, this temple is associated with the mystic poetess Mira Bai-wife of Bhojraj. He was the eldest son of Rana Sanga.
- Fateh Prakash Palace : Government Museum : The magnificent Palace has now been converted into a museum. Worth a visit, it is rich in its collection of beautiful sculptures from the temple and building in the fort.
- Parks : Meera Park, Pratap Park and Nehru Park. Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation operates two local sight seeing tour.
