AUROVILLE
11 km from Pondicherry, Auroville is the brainchild of mother and Designed by the French architect Roger Anger. Auroville was meant to be an experimental in international living, where men and women could live in peace and progressive harmony with each other, above all creeds, politics and nationalities. It took of at a ceremony on 28 February 1968. 121 countries soil was pour into an urn to symbolize universal oneness.
CHANDIGARH
Chandigarh is the common capital of Punjab State and Harayana State. The city has designed by French architect Le Courbusier.

DELHI / NEW DELHI
Delhi is the capital of India from ancient time. It is the 3rd largest city of India. Present New Delhi is the 8th sight of capital City.

12th century (Tomar and Chauhan-dynasties capital) Lal Kot near Qutub Minar and Suran Kund in Haryana.

14th century (Tughlaqs- capital) known as Jahanpanah near Qutub Minar.
Firoz Shah (1351-88) known as Kotta Firoz Shah.

Shah - Jahanabad (capital of Shah Jahan 1628 - 58) includes old Delhi, Red Fort, Chandani Chowk.

Places of Interest:
- Qutub Minar: (15 km) 73 meters high Qutub Minar was commenced in 1193 Qutbud - Din, Aibak, completed by his successor II tutumish. It has diameter of 14.32 meters at the base and about 2.75 ms on the top and has 379 steps & five storeys, Iron Pillar, in the adjoining mosque. 7.2 ms high, dates back to Chandragupta II (375 - 413 A. D.) brought here by Anangpal, the Tomar King, who had the founder of 2nd site of ancient capital at Lal Kot, very near to Qutub Minar.
- Safdarjang's Tomb: it was built by Nawab Shia - ud - Daulh, for his father Safdarjang Prime Minister to the Mughal Emperor Mohammad Shah.
- Rashtrapati Bhavan: It was completed in 1929, formally a viceroy's house, after independence, the official residence of the President of India. It has 340 rooms and an elegant Moghal Garden, which is opened for public in winter for one month only.
- Parliament House: The building is a circular colonnaded structure, 171 meter in diameter. It houses the Indian Parliament.
- India Gate: This 42 meter high stone arch of triumph bears the names of 90,000 Indian Army Soldiers, who died during the world war I.
- Jantar Mantar: Maharaja Jai Singh II, a keen astronomer, constructed this observatory in 1725. These masonry instruments are designed to indicate the movements of the Sun, Moon and other celestial bodies and predict eclipses.
- Laxmi Narayan Temple: Erected by the industrialist Birla in 1938, the temple is dedicated to Narayan and his consort Laxmi, the goddess of wealth.
- Jami Masjid: The largest mosque in India, Jami Masjid was constructed by Shah Jahan between 1644 to 1658 A. D. has a capacity of 25,000 people.
- Raj Ghat: The site, where Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation, was cremated on January 31, 1948.
- Shantivan: This is the site, where Jawaharlal Nehru, First Prime Minister of India, was cremated in May 1964.
- Vijay Ghat: the site, where Lalbhadur Shastri, second Prime Minister of India was cremated in January 1966. (Lalbhadur Shastri died at Tashkent).
- Shanti Ghat: This is the site, where Indira Gandhi, first woman Prime Minister of India was cremated.
- Red Fort: Shah Jahan commenced construction of this massive fort in 1638 and it was completed in 1648. Built of red sandstone, walls of Lal Qila vary in height from 18 meters on the riverside and 33 meters on the city side, about 2 km. in circumference.
- Diwan - I - Am: The hall of 'Public Audiences', where the emperor would sit to hear complaints or disputes from his subjects.
- Diwan - I - Khas: The hall of Private Audiences, was the luxurious chamber, where the Emperor would hold private meetings. Centerpiece of the hall, until Nadir Shah carted it off to Iran in1739, was the magnificent peacock Throne.

- Moti Masjid: Built by Aurangzeb in 1659.
Sound and light Show (Son at lumiere) each evening. These shows represent the events of India's history; particularly those connected with the Red Fort. Tickets also available from the I.T.D.C. Office in L Block, Connaught Place.
- Purana Qila: This is the supposed site of Indraprastha, the original city of Pandava (Mahabharat), Sher Shah (1538-45) the Afghan ruler, who wrested the throne of Delhi from Moghal Emperor Humayun. Sher Shah built this fort, sand stone tower- Sher Manzil, was later used by Humayun as a Library. Here he slipped, fell and died.
- Zoo: Adjoining to Purana Qila (open from 9.00 to 17.00 hrs)
- Teen Murti House: It was the official residence of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru from 1948 to 1964. It is now a museum, housing the memorabilia of Pandit Nehru. A sound and light show 'Trust with Destiny' is held here every day after sunset except from mid July to September, in monsoon.
- Feroz Shah Kotla: Extensive ruins of a lost city Firozabad, the fifth site of Delhi, founded by Feroz shah Tughlaq in 1354.
- National Museum: It has a good collection of Indian bronzes, terra cotta, wood sculptures, miniature and mural paintings and also costumes of the various tribal people. (Open from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs. Monday closed).
- Rail Transport Museum: It has exotic collection of railway engines. 1855 A. D. steam engine, still in working order. (Open May to 15 July from 9.30 to 19.30 hrs and rest of the year open from 10.30 to 17.30 hrs. Monday closed).
- International Dolls Museum: It displays 6000 dolls from 85 different countries, over one third of them from India. (Open from 10.00 to 18.00 hrs. Monday closed).
- Air Force Museum: Situated near Palam Airport. (Open from 10.00 to 13.30 hrs. Tuesday closed).
- Museum of Natural History: Situated on Barakhambha Road, near Nepal embassy.
- Craft Museum: Situated at Aditi Pavilion, in Exhibition Ground, on Mathura Road.
- National Philatelic Museum: Situated on Parliament Street at Dak Tar Bhavan (Sunday closed).
Air: Nearest Airport is 16 km from City Indian Airlines Office.
Bus: Regular buses to Agra, Mathura, Jaipur, Panipat, Kurukshtra, Simla, Mussoorie, Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Chandigarh etc.
DIU ISLAND
Diu Island was one of the Portuguese pockets in India for about 450 years and was liberated on 19th December, 1961, ending 4th century long foreign rule. Area of Diu Island is 38.5 sq. km. It is connected with the mainland by a bridge near Tad Village. Diu is 9 km from Delwada via Ghoghla and Sea (Ferry service), and 30 km from Una via Tad Bridge and about 76 km from Veraval.
Places of Interest:
- Fort: This fort was built between 1535 to 1541 A. D. It is skirted by the sea on three sides and by a canal on the forth. It now houses a lighthouse and a goal. There is another fort, named Pankikotha Fort, near the first one, also having a lighthouse.
- Church: There are five churches on Diu Island, St. Paul's being the biggest among them.
- Temples: Jalandhar temple, Somnath temple, Surya Mandir, Kankai temple, Khandiar temple and Jain temple.
- Nagoa beach: This is a house - shoe beach and constitutes and ideal location for sea - bathing. It is 9 km from Diu. There is a hotel on this beach.

Air: Nearest Airports are at Keshod (150 km) and Bhavnagar (225 km)
Rail: Delwada is the nearest Railway Station (9-km).

Private buses ply between Diu and Nagoa Beach.
NOGOA BEACH
This is a house - shoe beach and constitutes and ideal location for sea - bathing. It is 9 km from Diu. There is a hotel on this beach
PONDICHERRY
Formerly a French Colony, which was settled in the early part of the 18th century, Pondicherry became the part of Indian Union in the early 50's, when the French voluntarily relinquished control.
Places of Interest:
- Sri Aurobindo Ashram: Main Ashram building is situated on Rue de la Marine and is surrounded by various educational institutions and Guest houses.
- Aquarium: It is situated in Botanical Gardens. It has some rare ornamental fishes.
- French Institute: Located on Dumas Street, it was established in 1955 as a research center for Indian culture. Its vegetation maps are universally acclaimed.

Conducted Tours: The Directorate of Information, Publicity and Tourism, Pondicherry, conducts one day city tour, when there are at least 10 tourists for city sight seeing tour. Tour departs form the Government Tourist Home (On Uppalam Road also known as Cuddalore Road) at 9.00 hrs and return at 18.00 hrs. Tours covers Joan of Arc Square, War memorabilia, and Gandhi Square. Art Gallery of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Samadhi of Shri Aurobindo and Mother, perfumery of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Handmade Paper Unit of Ashram, Bharathiar and Bharathidsan Memorial, Government Park and Park Monument, Museum, Hablik Handloom Center of Ashram, sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Botanical Garden and Auroville.
